Our Story
4 Generations of Family Farming
Walter & Lucy Fluegge, the 1st generation of egg farmers, started out in Anaheim, CA near where Disneyland is now. He ran the farm with the help of his son, August Fluegge Sr. He then retired in the early '70s, but August Sr. wanted to continue as a 2nd generation egg farmer.

August Sr. and his wife Bettie decided to move to Valley Center, California to get away from the city because they believed this would be a better environment for their family. They started their farm with only a few thousand hens and grew to 60,000 hens by the time they retired in the early 2000's. Throughout those years, they continued to sell their eggs locally and were involved in their local church and community. Today, they have stepped away from farming to be more involved in the lives of the over 40 grandchildren they have.

Growing up, August Fluegge Jr, the first born of 10 children helped pick up the eggs before going to school. He never seemed to lose this interest in eggs because in 1996, at the age of 27, August Jr. and his wife Shea started their own ranch just down the road from his dad. They started with just 30,000 hens and have grown to 200,000 cage-free hens today. They continue selling their eggs locally throughout Southern California under the Fluegge Egg Ranch brand and are committed to bringing their customers the freshest eggs possible.

Just down the road from his Dad and Opa's ranches, August has put in 2 state-of-the-art cage-free hen houses and plans to continue expanding and selling Fluegge Egg Ranch eggs to local consumers.
